Instead of a typical board meeting, we’re mixing it up and feeling festive! Join your board members at Gil’s K-9 at the corner of 25th and Main. Happy Hour starts at 4PM and lasts until 6PM. Board members will be there at 5PM and how long they stay is open. Come when you want. No host bar. Food is available to order. Stop in and enjoy the great neighborhood vibe.

The proposed design of the River District Hotel (3150 Main Street) is scheduled for review by the Design Review committee on November 12th at 6 pm at City Hall. Agenda is here.

A proposed development at Whitewater Blvd and Moore Street by Gardner Group will be explained at Whitter Elementary Library today at 6PM. If you can attend, please do! The proposed development includes townhomes and single-family homes.

A candidate forum for Boise City Council District 6 will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 7:00 PM at Pierce Park Elementary in Boise. This free, nonpartisan event will feature candidates Jimmy Hallyburton (incumbent), Lisa Sanchez, and Lynn Bradescu. The West End Neighborhood is represented by District 6.
This forum gives voters the chance to hear directly from the candidates about their priorities, ideas, and perspectives on the issues that matter most to Boise’s neighborhoods and residents. Candidates will present their vision for the city, answer questions from the moderators, and participate in a respectful exchange of views to help inform voters ahead of the election.
All members of the community are invited to attend and be part of this important discussion about Boise’s future. This forum is sponsored by The League of Women Voters.

The board is leaning toward skipping this year’s involvement with this community event because Fairview Park construction that will be underway. More to come about the board’s final decision.

Board elections were completed on May 20. Welcome returning board members Justin Buckley and Tasmyn Raleigh, and the board welcomed back former now current board member Brian Chojnacky.
There was one open seat because long-time board member Anita Claridge did not run for another term. The board thanks Anita for her years of service as Treasurer and Grants/Fundraising committee member.
Elected board members join four board members David Anderson, Katie Early, Andrea Bogle, and Lauren Pennisi.
The board has a minimum of seven board members and as many as 11. Each seat serves a two-year term. Three seats are up for election in even years and four seats in odd years. Any additional seats will be added to either odd or even year cadence per board decision.
In addition to the regular board meeting, Miranda Gold and Erin Johansen from ACHD will answer questions about current and future projects. Here are some of the projects they will discuss:

On Tuesday, May 20, beginning at 6:30pm, WENA will hold its annual meeting where the board will report on the past year’s accomplishments and its plans for the coming board year.
In addition to the regular board meeting, representatives from Parks and Rec will explain the upcoming construction plan and schedule for Fairview Park, which will be renovated this year. It’s a great opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the project.
Lastly, there will be an election for open board seats. To vote, you must be present and a member of the West End neighborhood. The meeting will be held at the First Congregational Church on 23rd between Pleasanton/Woodlawn.

On Thursday, May 8, 6:30 PM at Hillside Junior High (last-minute location change) City Council Member Jimmy Hallyburton (District 6) along with Miranda Gold from ACHD led a town hall session. Topics included a youth survey about teenagers and roadmap that Jimmy Hallyburton is sponsoring and transportation. Handouts from the session will be uploaded to the WENA website under the Resources tab.
Hallyburton wants to hear from residents and teenagers about what they think is missing for youth at city parks and youth programs. Take the survey here.

On May 14, the Design Review Commission heard from Kimley-Horn regarding the proposed CWI campus. The proposed design a 4-story building was approved with a few suggested improvements. For more information, see the attached report.
