June Happenings in the West End

Annual Recap from Board President Justin Buckley

The West End Neighborhood Association had a productive year! Here’s a list of our accomplishments:

  • We installed new sign toppers to celebrate our neighborhood identity and welcomed Katie, Tasmyn, and Andrea to the board—bringing fresh energy and ideas.
  • After years of dedicated service, longtime board member Anita transitioned off—thank you, Anita!
  • We updated our bylaws, made key appointments, and refined board composition to better serve the West End.
  • We also hosted another successful National Night Out, strengthening community connections.

Thank you for your continued support in making the West End a vibrant, welcoming place to live!

WENA Board Members

Board elections were completed on May 20. Welcome returning board members Justin Buckley and Tasmyn Raleigh, and the board welcomed back former now current board member Brian Chojnacky.

There was one open seat because long-time board member Anita Claridge did not run for another term. The board thanks Anita for her years of service as Treasurer and Grants/Fundraising committee member.

Elected board members join four board members David Anderson, Katie Early, Andrea Bogle, and Lauren Pennisi.

The board has a minimum of seven board members and as many as 11. Each seat serves a two-year term. Three seats are up for election in even years and four seats in odd years. Any additional seats will be added to either odd or even year cadence per board decision.

WENA Monthly Meeting – June 17 at 6:30pm

In addition to the regular board meeting, Miranda Gold and Erin Johansen from ACHD will answer questions about current and future projects. Here are some of the projects they will discuss:

  • 21st Street and State Street – How is this intersection changing? Was this communicated to area residents who use that intersection to leave/enter the neighborhood? Why was it necessary for construction work to take place Thursday night? (May 8)
  • 23rd between Main/Fairview
  • 25th between Main/by Gil’s K-9
  • 24th between Bannock/Idaho
  • There doesn’t seem to be any coordination or strategy for all these existing projects, and the disruption is more than an inconvenience. Why is it necessary to have all these projects in progress at the same time?
  • What are upcoming projects? around Fairview Park, Finch on Fairview, and CWI campus?
  • Who will adjust the timing of traffic lights for closed roads?

Bring your questions! For more information, send an email to board@westendboise.org.
